Lakers’ Anthony Davis and Rui Hachimura not in the Grizzlies match

Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis will be away from the field due to a bruise on his left heel in the match against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday. As the head coach confirms JJ Redick via Mike Trudell. Rui Hachimura will also not be able to play due to illness.

Anthony Davis listed as questionable and every day after his left foot injury was re-aggravated in the fourth quarter of the Lakers’ loss to the Detroit Pistons on Monday night.

“I’m going to talk to my coach and figure out exactly what’s going on,” the Lakers center said after night’s game on Monday.

“Honestly, I’ve been managing this since this summer and my goal every game is to be on the field. And I kind of landed right on the spot that killed me. So we’ll figure it out,” he continued.

Anthony Davis had his best start to the season in years

Davis is playing at an elite level this season and is arguably the best center in the NBA. The 12-year veteran football player is off to the hottest start of his career and leads the league with 32.3 points per game and a 57% shooting rate. The player is at the top of the league in free throws (12) and free throws (9.4), and ranks 10th in rebounds (11.7) and blocks (1.7).

The Lakers big man dropped 37 points against Detroit on Monday, bringing his total to 75 over the last two games. He scored 29 or more points in six of the Lakers’ first seven games and recorded four double-doubles.

If Davis cannot play, the Lakers will be seriously depleted, especially in the frontcourt. Jared Vanderbilt and Christian Wood are still out of the team due to injuries, and Jalen Hood-Schifino, Maxwell Lewis, Quincy Olivari and Armel Traore are currently playing in the G-League.

Some positive news for the Lakers includes D’Angelo Russell (foot) and Austin Reaves (ankle) being expected to continue playing despite minor injuries, Khobi Price of the Orange County Register reports. Moreover, Christian Koloko expected to be availableBecause his name wasn’t mentioned in the injury report.

Koloko has not seen a game since the 2022-23 season ended due to a “blood clotting issue.” The 24-year-old, who signed a two-way contract with the Lakers in September, was recently given medical clearance to play. However, he is not active yet due to concerns about his fitness.

If Davis leaves the team, having Koloko available would be a huge boost. The 7-foot-5 player with a 7-5 wingspan is an athletic big man known for his shot-blocking ability and strength on the offensive boards. However, the offensive game remains quite limited.

The 31-year-old has battled injuries throughout his career and has played in 70 or more games only three times. However, he was relatively healthy in the 2023-24 season, playing in 76 games and having one of his best performances as a professional.

Anthony Davis averaged 24.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.3 blocks per game while shooting 55.6% from the field, but his three-point shooting was a tough one at just 27.1%.

Rui Hachimura was initially skeptical but was later upgraded to questionable shortly before tipoff. However, he will miss the first match of the season. In Hachimura’s absence, Dalton Knecht could make first career startCam Reddish and Gabe Vincent may see expanded roles.

Hachimura had an impressive start to the season, shooting 57.1% from beyond the arc and grabbing a career-best 6.4 rebounds per game. With both him and Davis on the sidelines, the Lakers will need others to step up. Bench production has been a concern for Los Angeles so far this season, and it will be even more important in their absence.
