Haryana CM orders pay cut of five civil servants

Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini has ordered deduction of 15 days’ salary of five municipal officials for their alleged role in delaying the implementation of the Shehri Swamitva Scheme. The officials punished include two joint commissioners, two deputy municipal commissioners and a director of various municipal corporations.

The officials against whom action was taken were Gurugram municipal corporation (MC) joint commissioner Akhilesh Yadav; Ambala MC joint commissioner Puneet; Deputy municipal commissioner Deepak Sura; Hardeep, deputy municipal commissioner of Sonepat MC, and Arun Nandal, executive officer of Nuh MC.

In another case, Gurugram MC clerk Sandeep Kumar was also suspended for allegedly demanding bribe. 50,000.

According to a statement from the Haryana government, the CM took action after reviewing cases where the benefits of government schemes, especially the Shehri Swamitva Scheme, were not being made available to the people in a timely, transparent and effective manner.

Government plans are closely monitored through the prime minister’s dashboard. This cell periodically contacts program beneficiaries to collect their feedback, which the CM personally reviews.

On Friday, when the approval cell reached out to the beneficiaries of the scheme, several worrying issues emerged. In one case in Gurugram, a beneficiary was reportedly sent back and forth for two years despite paying the entire amount. The case also revealed that a clerk demanded a bribe. 50,000.

Acting on this information, Saini ordered the suspension of clerk Sandeep Kumar.

Similarly, citizens of Ambala, Sonipat and Nuh also informed the cell that they had paid the entire scheme a year ago but the transfer agreement was not yet processed.

In response, the CM directed that half a month’s salary of the officers concerned be deducted. He emphasized that no official will be spared from negligence in the implementation of government plans.

The Prime Minister directed that the transfer should be carried out within two days from the payment of the entire amount.

The commissioner and secretary of the urban local bodies department directed the officers to ensure that the transfer deed is signed within the next three days in pending cases under the Shehri Swamitva Scheme and submit the report.
