The 20-meter-long Sol Spin ride, manufactured by Netherlands-based Mondial Rides, opened at the Buena Park theme park in 2017.

The ride rotates in three directions, causing riders to flip their heads while their gondola spins like a propeller blade and a support arm spins like the second hand of a clock.

Sol Spin riders sit in freely rotating gondolas attached to a counterclockwise rotating arm, creating an oval arc in the air. Floorless coaster-like seats with over-the-shoulder restraints allow riders to swing their feet and arms as centrifugal force causes the gondolas to rock back and forth.

Knott’s gives Sol Spin its highest level of excitement rating.
