It was revealed that RAF warplanes were airlifted to inspect Russian military aircraft near British airspace.

The defense ministry said yesterday’s incident was the second time in three months that the Royal Navy and RAF had detected Russian ships and aircraft within a week of each other.

It was stated that Typhoons deployed from RAF Lossiemouth monitored the Russian Bear-F aircraft flying over the North Sea.

The statement said, “The Russian reconnaissance aircraft was detected in the UK’s area of ​​interest and never entered the UK’s sovereign airspace.”

This comes after the Royal Navy shadowed Russian military ships passing through the Channel last week.

“Typhoons supported by Voyager refueling aircraft are part of the RAF’s Rapid Reaction Alert,” the statement said.

“This demonstrates that aircraft in Scotland and England maintain a high level of readiness 24/7, 365 days a year and are ready to defend and protect UK airspace.”

In the statement, it was stated that British warships, helicopters and long-range maritime patrol planes of this struggle were also closely monitoring the progress of two separate groups of Russian ships, one heading towards the Atlantic and the other towards the Baltic.

“This enabled the ships to move in a safe and non-threatening manner,” the statement said.

In the channel, HMS Iron Duke and the tanker RFA Tideforce shadowed three Russian ships commanded by the new frigate Admiral Golovko.

Golovko was accompanied by the oceanographic research vessel Yantar and the support tanker Vyazma.

All three were being pursued by the Norwegian Navy before British forces took over.

The Duke-class frigate and Tide-class tanker, supported by RAF P-8 Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft, tracked the ships across the Straits of Dover and the Channel before handing over tracking duties to the French Navy.

Iron Duke took over as Golovko continued his journey.
