Jordan Chiles’ shocking statement amid Olympic controversy

Jordan Chiles breaks down in emotional interview 2024 Paris Olympics controversy when asked to return his bronze medal. The gymnast opened up about her moves with Hoda Kotb on the Nov. 11 episode of the “Today” show. emotional well-being is in the middle of controversy.

“Honestly, it’s been really hard to understand everything that’s going on,” Chiles said. “Finally, I kind of feel comfortable talking about what’s going on. “I feel like lately I’ve been trying to tell myself that I’ve been okay for the last four or five months, and it’s been a very, very difficult time to be honest.”

She detailed how frustrating it was for her at the time to have to go back and forth between the authorities and her knowing the truth about it.

“It’s hard to tell yourself everything will be okay when you know we haven’t really done anything wrong,” he explained. “Everything was so right. Everything was when it was supposed to be, and when we had the evidence they came back and said it was four seconds too late. We had everything to actually show that everything was right.”

“I said, ‘Okay, I can’t control what’s going on outside.’ “I can only control what my truth is,” Chiles shared through tears. “I know what the truth is, and I know that we are right in everything we do.”

Chiles shocked his fans when he confessed where the bronze medal is now.

“I have the medal,” he said. “The medal is mine.”

Chiles made headlines during the Olympics after placing fifth in the women’s floor final and finished third after his coach Cécile Landi called for the scores to be investigated. Re-scoring was honored at the time and Chiles took bronze, making the first all-Black podium finish in gymnastics history; Her teammate Simone Biles took the silver and Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade took the top spot with the gold.

“It was an all-black catwalk, history was made,” Chiles said. “This was something I was proud to be a part of.”

There was a turbulent back-and-forth between the United States, which defended Chile and Romania, which demanded that the investigation be overturned so that it would result in Ana Barbosu’s victory. After weeks of evidence and explanation, it was confirmed that Barbosu would be the official bronze medal bearer.

While this is disheartening news for Chiles and his supporters to hear, he is still focused on recovery. The next Olympics will be in Los Angeles in 2028.

“LA is going in and out of my mind,” he claimed. “I think right now I’m just trying to understand what’s going on in Paris and take it day by day.”
