Leopard attacked cow herd, killed 6 cows

A leopard suddenly attacked a herd of cows grazing in the Belga forest under Barwatoli Panchayat in Chandwa-Kudru block on the Lohardaga-Latehar district border. The leopard’s shot caused a stampede in the herd. Meanwhile, the leopard killed 6 cows and one cow was seriously injured. It was stated that the incident occurred around 17:00. Navgeshwar Yadav, a resident of Bellanga village, was grazing around a dozen of his elder brother Arun Yadav’s cows in the forest when suddenly the leopard attacked him.

He saw that the leopard, which had descended into the forest due to a sudden stampede in the cow herd, was attacking the cow, so he ran towards the village from the opposite side, saving his life and notifying the villagers. Due to the news of a leopard attack in the forest adjacent to the village, there is panic in dozens of surrounding villages such as Jamuari, Hesalang, Madma, Ucharinga.

Receiving information about the attack, forest guard Luv Jha and Belanga from the forest department reached the forest late in the evening, searched some surrounding areas and collected the footprints of the wild animal that attacked the cow. The ranger said it was a leopard, not a tiger. However, according to eyewitnesses, the villagers clearly saw the tiger. Ministry employees now call the tiger a leopard based on its footprints, even without seeing it, and only the ministry can explain the reason for this.
