CHATTOGRAM, Bangladesh (AP) — Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam claimed his second consecutive five-wicket total but South Africa reached 413-5 at lunch on Day 2 and remained in control of Wednesday’s final cricket test.

Taijul, who finished the session with 5-152, triggered the collapse as South Africa lost three wickets for five runs and fell from 386-2 to 391-5.

Taijul took eight wickets in the first test Bangladesh lost by seven wickets.

Wiaan Mulder (12) and Ryan Rickelton (11) held off Taijul to keep the team in strong position before heading to lunch.

Continuing with a score of 307-2, Tony de Zorzi and David Bedingham added to Bangladesh’s misery by batting smoothly as the pitch still looked good to bat on.

De Zorzi made his maiden century of 150 from 235 balls, prompting Taijul to hit a four at mid-wicket.

Bedingham, who made his third 50 from 70 balls with Mehidy Hasan’s single, was dismissed in the 59th minute.

After a while, de Zorzi, who had executed sweeping shots with precision, missed the line to get stuck in front of the goal. This ended his marathon 269-ball 177 with 12 fours and four sixes.

First test centurion Kyle Verreynne was also trapped before scoring leg-front by missing a sweep delivery, giving Taijul his 14th five-wicket haul in test matches.
