Connor Roberts: Wales defender wants to play for Swansea City again

Roberts moved to then-top-table Burnley following Swansea’s defeat to Brentford in the 2021 Championship play-off final.

Last Sunday’s win over Swansea marked the right-back’s 100th appearance for the Clarets.

Roberts, who spent the second half of the 2023-24 season on loan at Leeds United, has made 12 appearances for Burnley so far this season, helping Scott Parker’s side reach fourth place in the Championship.

They are back in action at Bristol City on November 23, but Roberts’ primary focus is on Wales’ Nations League matches in Turkey this Saturday and at home to Iceland next Tuesday.

Roberts, who worked with Craig Bellamy at Burnley where the former Wales striker was assistant to former manager Vincent Kompany, is not surprised by the positive signs in the early stages of the Wales head coach’s reign.

“It was great,” he said. “We’re off to a good start. We’ve got areas where we’re great and where we can still improve.

“We want to continue to strive to be not just a good team, but an incredible team. We have two tough games ahead of us, but these are the games we are all excited about.”

Watch Connor Roberts’ Feast of Football on Friday 15 November at 22:40 GMT and on demand thereafter on BBC One Wales.
