SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – Crews are responding to two building fires in Southbridge overnight.

South Bridge firefighters were called to the fire on Union Street around 3:30 Wednesday morning.

When our Western Mass News crews arrived, we could see two 3-story buildings on fire, with heavy smoke and visible flames coming from the roof.

The Southbridge Fire Chief said the fire started in the back of the building and quickly spread to the secondary structure.

Emergency response teams are working hard to control the flames and ensure the safety of those living in the area.

Thirty people have been displaced and are receiving treatment at a nearby nursing home.

No injuries were reported.

While the teams continued their work, surrounding citizens were advised to stay away from the area.
