Grandmother and pregnant grandchild killed in home invasion in Vero Beach: IRCSO

A pregnant teenager and her grandmother were shot and killed during a home invasion near Vero Beach over the weekend, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office (IRCSO).

The unborn child also died as a result of the shooting, Indian River County Sheriff Eric Flowers said in a video posted to Facebook on Tuesday.

Outside the home, a small angel-shaped candle holder, a handwritten letter and an old photograph mark the scene of what sheriff’s deputies are calling a heinous murder.

Both the grandson, 19, and the grandmother, 68, were pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Flowers said one more person was injured as a result of the home invasion.

“This is a heinous crime. It’s a terrible situation,” Flowers said.

Our loved ones shared a photo of the teenager with WPEC’s Katie Bente, taken just a few years ago.

According to IRCSO,There was booing on Sunday around 3:45 a.m. at a home at the corner of 23rd Place SW and 6th Way SW.
