Rochester, NY — A 25-year-old man is facing several charges after allegedly shooting a woman after stealing a car on Jefferson Avenue last month.

Officers said that on Oct. 5, around 11 p.m., a 61-year-old woman arrived at Strong Memorial Hospital with at least one non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her lower body.

The victim reported that he was at a corner store on Jefferson Avenue when his friend’s vehicle was stolen.

She, her husband and her friend reportedly followed the vehicle to Tremont Street, where 25-year-old Shaiquon Reeves opened fire, striking the victim and the vehicle they were in. Officers said they located the stolen vehicle the next day.

Investigators identified Reeves as the suspected attacker and took him into custody on Remington Street on Friday.

Reeves is charged with assault, robbery, criminal possession of a weapon and grand larceny. He was also issued an extraordinary warrant for criminal impersonation and traffic-related charges.
