LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT) – Jimmie Jay Lee has been pronounced dead, more than two years after he went missing.

A Lafayette County District Court judge ruled that Lee “was subjected to a catastrophic event that exposed him to imminent danger or danger that could reasonably be expected to result in loss of life” and that “Mr. Lee’s absence as a result of the event cannot be satisfactorily provided for.” decided. Lee disappeared on June 8, 2022. His body was not found.

Former University of Mississippi student Sheldon Timothy Herrington was charged with Lee’s death.
