HARLEM (WABC) — Two teenagers were arrested after an innocent 7-year-old girl was shot in the stomach in Harlem.

The shooting occurred just before 3 p.m. Monday near West 145th Street and Bradhurst Street.

Police said the young girl was shot when gang members opened fire in broad daylight. She was riding a pink scooter while her father walked alongside her during the shooting.

Daniel Idowu, 19, and an unnamed 17-year-old boy face multiple charges, including attempted murder, following the shooting. Idowu is expected to appear in court on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the 17-year-old could not be accommodated at Central Reservations due to his age.

According to police, the 7-year-old boy was taken to Harlem Hospital in a patrol car and arrived at the hospital in good health.

“When I ran, I saw the cops carrying the girl to the patrol car and then her father became inconsolable, the only thing I remember was that I had to calm his father down,” said witness Angel Casanova.

“He was wishing it had been him who was shot. I wish it had been me, they could have killed me, they could have killed me,” he said.

Police said the girl was shot outside a Starbucks and the windshield was shattered by a bullet. At least nine shots were fired.

“He was in complete shock looking at his wound, it was crazy,” Casanova said.

Police said gang members tried to tackle a rival but missed and hit the girl.

The police quickly detained the two suspects and seized the gun. It is understood authorities are trying to seize a second gun.

“I really want to commend the quick response of the 30th and 32nd precincts and we will bring this to justice. Frankly our hearts go out to the family, I pray for a speedy recovery,” Mayor Eric Adams said.

Meanwhile, hours later at 217 West 127th St. in Harlem. A 39-year-old woman was shot in the leg in an unrelated shooting.

He was also taken to Harlem Hospital, where he is expected to recover.
