The SEC announced Monday that LSU will be fined $250,000 “for disrupting its contest against Alabama due to fans throwing debris on the field.”

The funds will be paid into the SEC’s graduate scholarship program, unlike the on-field rush where schools pay a rival school.

LSU fans threw debris onto the field in the second half following a facemask call that extended the clock to Alabama on third down. Some fans booed while others threw garbage.

“Fans, please do not throw debris onto the field,” Tiger Stadium’s public address announcer said as items flew onto the turf. “Do not throw garbage on the field”

Fans at Tiger Stadium did it again when, upon review, the pass to receiver Kyren Lacy was ruled incomplete. Alabama won the game 42-13.

LSU will now be required to use all available video to find the individuals who littered the field and ban them from all LSU athletic events for the remainder of the school year, per the conference’s policies. LSU is also required to review and update its game management procedures to prevent this situation from happening again and submit a report to the SEC outlining these efforts.

“The conference is not suspending Louisiana State University’s alcohol sales privileges at this time but reserves the right to do so if other requirements set forth above are not met,” the SEC’s announcement said.
