Arizona firefighters remove boa constrictor from pickup truck

Aaron Ricks, who was driving from Mesa to Scottsdale, called the non-emergency police line after parking and noticed a large snake, identified as a boa constrictor, sticking its head out from under his truck. FOX 10 Phoenix reported.

“I thought it was a grocery bag or some kind of plastic. Maybe I hit something,” he said. “I walked up to the truck to see what it was and I was shocked to see this big snake looking down and staring at me.”

Police transferred Ricks to the Scottsdale Fire Department and firefighters responded to the call.

A snake hung from under the truck

The snake was not harmed during removal and was turned over to the Arizona Herpetological Society, the department said.

Mason Brill Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary He told FOX 10 he may have suffered a minor burn from the snake being so close to the truck’s engine, but there were no serious injuries.

“A lot of times it’s not good for animals to get into engines,” Brill said. “They’re caught on a belt or almost cooked, so this girl is pretty unharmed. Maybe a little burn right here, but nothing too serious.”

If the snake someone’s pet, Brill said the fire department suggested it based on its appearance and said they could contact the shelter to pick it up.

If the owner does not come forward, the snake will spend the rest of its life in the sanctuary if it cannot be adopted.
