Neal Brown Gives Promising Garrett Greene Update, Discusses QB Situation Against Baylor

West Virginia head coach Neal Brown isn’t ready to announce his starting quarterback for this Saturday’s game against the Baylor Bears.

“Garrett practiced today. “We’ll see how it goes tomorrow when they have 11-on-11 games, but we’ll see how the week goes,” Brown said at Monday’s press conference. “We’re going to get both quarterbacks ready. I’m not really going to say anything. He practiced a little bit last Wednesday, but this was the first time he’s actually worked out. He’s going to practice tomorrow and we’ll make some decisions throughout the week, but we’re not going to comment on that.”

Senior Garrett Greene suited up but did not play in last week’s game against Cincinnati. He missed the last two games due to an upper body injury. An update could be revealed during his coach’s showcase on Thursday, or he could keep it close to his vest to keep Baylor guessing.

In his two games as West Virginia’s starter, Marchiol has a 2-0 record with wins over Arizona and Cincinnati. Against Arizona, he went 18/22 passing for 198 yards and two touchdowns and then went 9/15 for 156 yards with a touchdown and interception each.

Greene had a disappointing start to the season before getting injured, throwing the football, completing just 56% of his passes for 1,352 yards and nine touchdowns and eight interceptions.

West Virginia and Baylor kick off games at 4pm EST on ESPN2.
