According to information obtained by Observer Online, a police officer who was shot outside his home in Portmore last Thursday died in hospital.

The deceased is Sergeant Patrick Mahoney, assigned to the St Catherine Northern Division.

It was reported that the sergeant was called from his home around 21:00 after hearing explosions similar to gunshots. When the conflict calmed down, it was revealed that the sergeant had been shot.

He was taken to the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. The Police Federation called for urgent blood donations for the injured police.
