“I was there for the entire series and it was really important that each episode walked that tightrope between drama and comedy. “It’s hard to use words to describe Kathy. He is very smart, very humble, and has an admirable work ethic. “Even though we did all these episodes, there wasn’t a moment where he didn’t fully reveal himself and analyze and dissect himself,” Coiro recalled. “It was like a master class, really, watching him work.”

Coiro decided to move on matlock “Normally, on air, I would produce the pilot and maybe an episode or two,” he adds, in part because of Bates’ commitment to the project. On this show, I said, ‘I’m going to come back and do as much as I can.’ And part of that has to do with Kathy. “It’s not just about his unique acting skills, but also the way he treats people on set.”

He continued: “Kathy knows everyone’s name and introduces herself to everyone. When the camera isn’t on him, he stays and reports. “It’s great to be in his presence, and I think everyone on that set feels like they’re bringing their best game because he’s doing it that way.”

“There’s always something special about working on a pilot because you get to know the show. It’s very different from coming in as an episode director. “I feel like an important part of the team, and it was one of the most fun jobs I’ve ever had,” he enthused. “So the fact that it is also considered good is icing on the cake.
