Citizen Digital reported that a police officer shot one person dead and injured another at a popular bar in Ugweri Market on Saturday, November 9.

What led to the shooting at Embu bar

Preliminary reports indicate that the tragic incident occurred when the officer, along with a colleague, entered the Vision Joint and attempted to disperse patrons.

Eyewitnesses said police opened fire on some revelers who resisted orders to take them out.

The deceased’s mother, Catherine Nyaga, is said to have shot the officer’s 43-year-old son, Ephantus Muriithi Nyaga, in the head, resulting in his sudden death.

The devastated mother claimed both police officers appeared drunk at the time of the incident.

Police said the second victim was shot in the neck and was taken to Embu Level 5 Hospital where he is receiving treatment.

Ephantus Muriithi’s body was moved to the hospital morgue, although two police officers were disarmed so that an investigation could be carried out.

Elsewhere, a 30-year-old partygoer was rushed to hospital. Naivasha Allegedly district hospital shot by police in front of nightclub.

The victim, identified only as Ngugi, was attending an event by Jamaican reggae artist Glen Washington and was reportedly shot at point-blank range by a drunk officer from the Critical Infrastructure Police Unit (CIPU) following a brief argument.

As Citizen Digital reported, a close female friend of the victim described the sequence of events and claimed that she saw the officer urinating on Ngugi’s motorcycle parked outside the club.

The argument between Ngugi and the officer escalated when the officer drew his gun and shot the victim in the neck, breaking his collarbone.
