FEMA chief who allegedly advised the team to stay away from homes with Trump signs after Hurricane Milton was fired as part of the investigation

MIAMI, Florida — A Federal Emergency Management Agency supervisor has been suspended and is under investigation for allegedly asking team members not to inspect homes with signs supporting Donald Trump’s campaign in a hurricane-ravaged Florida town, the agency said.

The incident occurred when an unidentified FEMA administrator was allegedly surveying damage caused by Hurricane Milton in Florida and instructed his members to stay away from homes with signs, the agency said.

FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell called the incident “reprehensible.”

“This is a clear violation of FEMA’s core values and principles of helping people regardless of their political affiliation,” he said in a statement.

According to Criswell, the auditor was terminated and the matter was turned over to FEMA’s Office of Special Counsel.

“This type of behavior and actions will not be tolerated at FEMA, and we will hold people accountable if they violate these standards of conduct,” he said.

“I will continue to do everything I can to make sure this never happens again,” Criswell added.
