4th grade students competed in the “heated” fire safety poster contest

PARIS, Texas (KXII) – On Wednesday, October 30, the Paris Fire Department presented trophies to 24 fourth graders from 8 Lamar County schools who participated in the annual fire safety poster contest.

Every October during fire safety month, awards for the top 3 posters are presented to each school and judged by Paris Firefighters.

Each poster is evaluated for originality, clarity, neatness and content.

The poster created by Blossom Elementary student Lincoln Oats received the most votes and was named the overall winner. His poster featured drawings, additional items like a real smoke detector, and quick reminders like “Stop, let go, and roll” and “Plan an escape route.”
