Local restaurant releases footage of ‘commando-style’ break-in

A local restaurant released security footage showing the three men. robbers crawling on the floor after breaking in to steal drinks.

The robbery happened around 5:30 Thursday morning at Bollo Woodfired Pizza, a restaurant and bar on W Alabama St. Houston.

“It’s a huge inconvenience for a small business like us to have to deal with this,” said Ray Salti, the restaurant’s owner. KPRC 2 photographer Jeovany Luna.

Salti posted footage of the robbers entering the restaurant after breaking the glass door on Instagram, hoping someone could identify the crooks.

The men made a coordinated effort, crawling on the ground to prevent the alarm sensor from being triggered.

Fortunately, the thieves did not take the money and run away, as the restaurant does not keep cash outside business hours. Instead, they stole unopened bottles of alcohol.

This might seem like a strange crime, since the restaurant doesn’t even stock high-end or fairly expensive liquors. However, Salti told us that he had seen this type of theft before.

“They did this to another restaurant across the street about two or three months ago. Same thing, they stole the booze. I guess they want to make a quick buck by selling these bottles.

Salti said he wasn’t sure how much alcohol they got rid of because they were still going through their inventory and trying to piece it together. He estimated they seized between 15 and 20 bottles.

He also estimated that repairs resulting from the theft would cost more than the bottles were actually worth.

Salti wasn’t particularly shocked by the robbery and said such incidents are in keeping with the tenor of running a business in the area.

“Oh, (robberies happen all the time). “It’s part of doing business in the loop in Houston,” he said.

He also had a message for thieves:

“Get a job. A lot of people are hiring, especially in Houston. “It’s not that hard.”
