Four arrested in connection with stolen trucks in valley

PHOENIX — Four men were arrested last Friday in connection with an investigation into stolen trucks in the Valley.

Court documents say they were involved in a “stolen vehicle ring that stole high-end trucks from the Phoenix metropolitan area and hired other co-conspirators to drive them to the southern border for profit.”

The men allegedly stole 20 trucks worth over $1 million from around the Valley. Court documents state the trucks were stolen from several Valley cities, including Waddell, Phoenix, Mesa, Gilbert and Glendale.

18-year-old Douglas Zelaya, 19-year-old Luis Brando Rodriguez, 20-year-old Andrew Nathan Reyes and 34-year-old Jorge Aguilar were arrested in connection with the thefts.

Court documents show Aguilar would investigate and facilitate the thefts and sell them in Mexico for about $8,000 each. The documents also allege he would provide the ability to mask the identity of stolen vehicles with fake temporary license plates.

Investigators found the men used an electronic device to make keys to unlock and start the vehicles.

Authorities surveilled four people, according to court documents.

One of the trucks, tracked by authorities, was followed to Gila Bend before being pulled over by DPS troopers. Documents say the driver confirmed he was paid about $700 to take the truck to the border.

One burglary described in court documents occurred Oct. 2, when a blue Chevrolet Silverado was stolen in the Waddell area. The video shows two men getting out of a white Chevrolet Camero, one entering the truck, and the other pointing an AK47-style gun at the front door of the residence. Another security camera video from the same area showed a white GMC truck being stolen in the same area, followed by a white Camero.

MCSO confirmed the two incidents are related.
