At the Grammy Museum the night before the Grammy nominees list was released on Thursday, Nov. 7, Roan chatted with songwriter Daniel Nigro as moderator. Brandi Carlile.

In the extensive conversation, Roan said: Bohemian Rhapsody It inspired him to transition from “hardcore” to “pop”. “Every time they performed Live Aid and that scene (thundering) where they performed ‘Radio Ga Ga’ and did that part? The 26-year-old Roan’s scene references a reenactment of Queen’s iconic 1985 Live Aid performance, in which Mercury guided the crowd through synchronized applause.

Carlile asked if Roan attributed his quirk to the movie, and he replied, “I wasn’t there yet.”

“I think I would do anything to feel that way in a crowd. I thought to myself: ‘How can I do something that will make everyone look out there and do the same thing?’ “It was very powerful when everyone did the same move,” he explained.

A staple on Roan’s playlist is “READY TO GO!” It does something similar by having the audience sing the title of the song in the same way as The Village People’s song “YMCA”. Nigro also noted “Femininomenon,” a call-and-response feature on the bridge.

“You start playing shows, then you start seeing how people respond to it,” Nigro said. “I think this was also a moment where we could take this even further.”

The “Pink Pony Club” singer agreed, saying: “It’s like I knew the whole time that I wanted to write great songs just to interact with the audience live.”

He also appreciated his success The Rise and Fall of a Midwestern Princess to their acclaimed live shows.

“I really think that’s why this project caught fire this year because it was a year of me performing live at every festival as well as a lot of tours,” Roan said. “We played 83 shows this year. It’s no joke. I think that’s why these songs were never meant to just be, I don’t know, tucked away on an album somewhere.”

On Friday, November 8, Roan received his nominations. 2025 Grammy Awards record of the year (“Good Luck, Baby!”), album of the year (The Rise and Fall of a Midwestern Princess) best new artist, best pop solo performance (“Good Luck, Babe!”) and best pop vocal album.
