Part of Auckland’s Southern Motorway has been closed following a serious crash near Takanini, while the main road at Te Atatū has also been closed.

Emergency responders were working at the scene of a two-car crash near suburban Conifer Grove on Saturday afternoon, police said.

The accident was announced around 12.30.

“Initial indications are that one person was seriously injured,” police said in a statement.

“The highway is currently closed northbound in the area and diversions are in place.”

Drivers were asked to avoid the area and find another route.

Waitematā accident

Police said the main road at Te Atatū was also closed following the serious crash on Saturday morning.

The accident, which occurred between a car and a pedestrian at around 11.40, was reported to the emergency service.

One person was seriously injured.

Te Atatū road is closed between Titoki Street and Royal View Road. Diversions were issued and drivers were told to expect delays.
