LEBANON, CT (WFSB) – A man was arrested for reckless driving after state police say they spotted him speeding between 120 and 130 mph.

The driver was identified as 20-year-old Lebanese Kodi James Vining.

State police said a trooper on duty east of Route 2, near exit 22 in Lebanon, spotted a driver driving a Hyundai Elantra around 6:45 p.m.

The police accelerated to catch the driver.

“While doing so, the trooper observed the vehicle advancing aggressively through traffic, accelerating to speeds between 120 and 130 MPH in the posted 65 mph zone,” state police said.

Troopers later saw the driver exit the highway at exit 23 in Bozrah, state police said.

As the trooper continued to catch up with the driver, the trooper observed the driver make a right turn onto Haughton Road, where he reached speeds of 75 mph in a 30 mph zone.

State police said the driver then turned right onto Fitchville Road and maintained speeds between 60 and 75 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Police eventually caught up with the driver and pulled him over on Fitchville Road.

After being stopped safely, the trooper spoke with the driver, identified as Vining.

During the interaction, state police said Vining admitted to speeding and told police he was going 122 mph.

He was arrested at that time.

State police said they charged him with reckless driving and first-degree reckless endangerment.

He was released on $2,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court on Nov. 21.
