The state Judicial Circuit said this following reports that scammers were spoofing Hilo Courthouse phone numbers.

These calls come from bad actors disguised as coming from a legitimate source.

Court officials said they will not call to request personal information, urgent payment or to meet somewhere for payment.

If you receive such a call, hang up.

Do not respond to similar texts or emails claiming to be from the judiciary.
