He explained: “I used to do martial arts at the center when I was a kid and it was like coming to school, I loved it.

“It needs to be restored to its original state.

“There’s nothing else like it in the area. We want to make this a community hub where people of all ages, cultures and languages ​​can come together. “There will be something for everyone.

“It is in bad shape and is no longer as useful as it used to be. This is a big area and thanks to the committee we are about to turn it around. “We just need a little more funding.”

Catherine Beckett’s Center is used for all kinds of events, from weddings to special needs and cooking classes.

They also organize charity fundraising events and health and wellbeing events for the community.

Bilal added: “We need to redevelop the region and make it more livable. “We are looking for some more support and volunteers from all walks of life.”

Bilal and his team, whose passion for the center shines, have big plans for the future.

They aim to completely renovate the area, making it more modern, hosting more events and providing a safe space for children who may be on the streets.

One of his plans is to build a community cafe so the center can be self-sufficient.
