Stating that the fire occurred in an external compressor room where the medical air compressor caught fire, Hospital Director Sterna van der Merwe said, “Smoke spread to a small area of ​​the hospital, but patient safety was not endangered and hospital operations continued normally.” .

The hospital management changed a ward and the reception area as a precaution.

Van der Merwe also said that the fire brigade, together with the hospital’s engineering team, extinguished the fire and that the matter was being investigated: “The hospital management would like to thank all relevant stakeholders for their rapid response and support, ensuring the safety of all our patients and staff.”
