LINN COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says the driver died in a crash earlier this month.

Deputies responded to the crash at the intersection of Monticello and Prairieburg Roads at 3:20 a.m. on Oct. 20. They say Chad Landas, 48, of Hopkinton, drove his blue Mercury Sable off the road and into a farm field.

Landas was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Deputies said he was trapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated. An air ambulance took him to the University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center, where he died on October 31.

The sheriff’s office says he was wearing his seat belt. The investigation into the accident is still ongoing.
