12-year-old boy stabbed another because of a pet

The week was marred by stabbings, some involving teenagers.

In one of the incidents, a 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death during an argument over pets in Eldoret.

The 12-year-old suspected killer is said to have stabbed another in the chest with a kitchen knife.

Police said the two had an argument over the ownership of pigeons they had bought as pets.

Police officers and villagers claimed that the attacker reached for a knife and stabbed the victim on the left side of his chest.

The 16-year-old boy died from his injuries while being taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.

The suspect was arrested as the body of the deceased was taken to the morgue for autopsy and other procedures.

Stabbing incident at Shiners Boys

In another incident, a KCSE aspirant was stabbed to death by another student at Shiners Boys in Nakuru.

The suspect, who was suspended due to disciplinary problems, was allowed to return to school.

Security officials said that it was reported that four candidates had a disagreement about the destruction of their personal belongings at school and the incident occurred around 20:00 in the evening.

The argument ended in stabbing and death.

Police said the victim was rushed to Nakuru Level 6 Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police arrested eight students as investigations into the fatal stabbing continue.

Gilgil District Commander Winstone Mwakio said one of the suspects was found with several rolls of bhang in his jacket pocket.

The student had been expelled from a school in Nairobi before his parents found a vacancy at the Shiners.

Nakuru County Commissioner Loyford Kibaara said five of the eight sat their exams at Mbaruk police station; The other three arrested are initially at Gilgil police station.

Police are trying to determine the credibility of allegations that the prime suspect used a broken piece of glass to stab the deceased.

The murder weapon has not yet been found, but initial reports indicated that the stab wound was inflicted with a knife.

Other crimes

The body of a 19-year-old woman was found on a banana farm in Kiambaa district following a suspicious murder.

Detectives are still investigating the murder of 19-year-old Sharon Atieno, also known as Nicole, who was killed hours after leaving her home for a walk.

Sharon’s badly mutilated body was found in a banana plantation in the Banana region on Friday, November 8, 2024.

Police said the cause of the murder has not yet been determined.

Friends said he left his home in Thindigwa, Karuri, at 10pm on Thursday to make a phone call.

He was also going for a walk, leaving his roommate behind. Hours later, friends said they tried to reach him but to no avail.

The body was only found the next day in a banana field in Kiambaa’s Gachorwe village.

On the other hand, police said a woman died from her injuries following a traffic accident on Lang’ata Road near Uhuru Gardens.

The unidentified woman is said to have been crossing the road when she was hit by a vehicle traveling from the CBD towards Lang’ata.

Police said the deceased was seriously injured and died at the scene.

Elsewhere, 35-year-old Reuben Mwaura was hit by a vehicle at Murengeti area on the Nairobi-Naivasha highway.

Police said Mwaura was crossing the road when the vehicle hit him.

Police added that the person died at the scene and the vehicle could not stop.

Police said 39-year-old Maurice Omondi Onyango died by suicide in Kisumu’s Ahenyo village on Saturday.

Police said the man hanged himself from a tree with a sisal rope wrapped around his neck.

No suicide note was found.

The body was taken to JOOTRH morgue for autopsy.

Paul Maina Gakuru, 53, also died by suicide after hanging himself with a sisal rope in Kieni East, Nyeri County.

Police officers determined that the deceased was suspected of taking herbicides (Rocket 44EC and Bestox) before hanging himself.

The body was later transferred to Mary Immaculate Hospital Mortuary in Mweiga for autopsy.
