‘RHOC’ star Vicki Gunvalson says signing on to ‘Real Housewives’ was making a ‘deal with the devil’

Vicki Gunvalson compared signing on to the “Real Housewives” franchise to making a “deal with the devil.”

The “Real Housewives of Orange County” alum, 62, opened up about her experience on the hit show in Vice’s new series: “The Dark Side of Reality TV” It was published on Tuesday.

“I definitely think it’s a deal with the devil,” said Gunvalson, one of the original cast members of the “RHOC” franchise.

The Bravolebrity, who began starring on the hit reality series in 2006, said she was paid “nothing, zero” during its first season.

“I think I got paid $5,000 for the whole of Season 2,” he shared. “I don’t have much money, I didn’t even let a lawyer review my contract. “I had no idea what I was doing.”

After the series proved to be a huge success, Gunvalson’s salary reflects Bravo’s growing success.

In fact, season 13 saw the reality star earn a whopping seven-figure salary in 2018.

“My last full-time season (salary) was significant. Seven figures. “I really never thought I would achieve the number I did,” he said.

All was not well, though.

Gunvalson, like many of her co-stars, has had to endure difficult life moments on camera, including her divorce from husband Donn Gunvalson.

The star filed for divorce from Donn in 2010, but it was not finalized until 4 years later.

“People ask me if I regret doing the show, and when I look at my relationships, I say yes,” she said.

“Donn and the show had a 100% impact on our relationship. Being on television 100% had a role in our divorce because it puts so much pressure on the marriage. I think we would have survived if I wasn’t on the show. That’s why I regret it.”

Along with his divorce, Gunvalson also learned of Joanne Steinmetz’s death when the cameras are rolling.

While Gunvalson was playing games with his co-stars at Shannon Beador’s house during the filming of Season 10, family members were trying to reach him to tell him the tragic news.

“I was really upset that production knew for an hour and they didn’t tell me,” he recalled. “They crossed the line and I think they should have pulled me aside and said, ‘Your mother is dead.’ ‘Talk to your daughter in front of the camera.’ “If I were a producer, I would do this.”

“It was very, very traumatic. “I will never forgive Bravo for this,” he said. Bravo

She recalled feeling uneasy after production decided to “prepare” a room in Beador’s home “with lights and cameramen” for her to use the landline and call her daughter.

“Let me scream and cry and go crazy on my own,” he added. “It was very, very traumatic. “I will never forgive Bravo for this.”
