Alabama Republican congressional candidate Caroleene Dobson’s campaign will reach out to hundreds of women leaders and activists in the final days of the campaign to get voters to the polls.

Dobson’s campaign announced a new “Women for Dobson” coalition of 345 women who are leaders, community activists and others in a press release Tuesday. The women will be “committed to getting voters to the polls in the final week of the campaign,” according to the news release.

In his statement, Dobson said he was honored to receive the support of women who will help his campaign in the last week before the November 5 elections. Dobson will face Democratic challenger Shomari Figures in what is considered the most competitive race on the November ballot in Alabama.

“Working together, we can fix the broken system in D.C., prioritize these issues that truly matter to the residents of the Second Congressional District, and bring better days for all Americans,” Dobson said in a statement.

The formation of the coalition is comingAbortion and reproductive rights drew attention during the campaign season. Dobson argues that states should be allowed to decide abortion rights and that exemptions should be made for cases of rape, incest and the life of the mother. He also supports in vitro fertilization, adding that the IVF process “allows the miracle of life for those who have never thought they could have children or have a family.”

Dobson’s supporters in the new coalition include Montgomery County Commissioner Ronda Walker, who said she anticipates Dobson “will bring practical, common-sense solutions” to Alabama families if elected.

“As women, mothers, and community members, we understand what is at stake in this election,” Montgomery County Commission member Ronda Walker said in a statement. “She listens to women’s concerns and knows how important it is to have someone in Washington who advocates for families, our faith, and our future.”

Shallie Garrison, former director of the Eufaula Chamber of Commerce and community volunteer, said Dobson’s intelligence and determination to find workable solutions to problems plaguing the United States drew her to join the coalition.

“He clearly understands the needs of our region and has the intelligence, energy and dedication to make a difference,” Garrison said in a statement.

Dobson’s formation of the coalition came after Figures invited several national Democrats to visit Alabama in the final week of the campaign. Texas Democratic U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett joined the Numbers campaign on Sunday during an event in Montgomery and Former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder was also in Mobile on Monday to campaign.

House Minority Leader U.S. Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, a New York Democrat, is expected to be in Montgomery on Thursday to campaign on behalf of Numbers.

The numbers campaign was not immediately available Tuesday to provide a response to Dobson’s coalition, which includes Debra Davis, a cattle ranch operator near Troy. Dobson, whose family has deep agricultural roots in Alabama. Approved by the Alabama Farmers Federation.
