SFA suspends and fines Akbar 24 Hour Restaurant in Tanjong Pagar over infestation

SINGAPORE – Tanjong Pagar Indian Muslim restaurant has been suspended for nearly a month for failing to stay out of invasion twice.

Food Shop Akbar 24 Hours Restaurant at 2 Lim Teck Kim Road has been suspended from Nov 12 to Dec 9, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said on its website.

The restaurant, which collected 12 penalty points in total, was also fined $800.

A check on Google found 580 reviews for the food business and the platform was given a score of 3.8 out of 5.

The SFA said a restaurant that received 12 or more penalty points within a 12-month period could have its license suspended for two to four weeks or cancelled.

The restaurant’s food handlers and food hygiene officer must be recertified in food safety before they can continue working.

In 2023, the restaurant was suspended for two weeks and fined $1,000 after accumulating 14 demerit points in 12 months for failing to keep its floor and cooler clean and failing to register an employee.
