Authorities responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle Saturday afternoon, according to Phoenix police. When they arrived at the scene near Baseline Road and 44th Street, they found the motorcyclist, 34-year-old Jovany Aceves.

According to police, Aceves died after being taken to the hospital.

Phoenix police said preliminary information suggests Aceves was traveling at a “high rate of speed,” possibly losing control of the motorcycle and striking a pole.

Detectives from the Phoenix Police Department were investigating.
