Second man charged with second-degree murder in Kingsway stabbing

A second man has been charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of a 34-year-old man in Edmonton’s Kingsway neighborhood in May.

Open At approximately 1:39 a.m. on May 15, city police officers were called to the area of ​​102 Street and Kingsway Avenue for a report of an injured man on the sidewalk. Emergency medical teams intervened and took the man to hospital, where he later died.

Police identified the victim as 34-year-old Clinton Quintal. An autopsy determined that he died from multiple stab wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.

Three days later, police identified 31-year-old Irvin Badarm, who was wanted for a robbery at the Kingsway transit station about an hour before the attack, as a suspect and charged him with robbery and second-degree murder. Police said Quintal and Badarm did not know each other.

At the time, police believed there were more suspects involved in the attack and robbery.

On Thursday, 35-year-old Adam Chinery was arrested by police and charged with second-degree murder, police said Friday.

Investigators determined that Chinery was not involved in the robbery. Police said they are no longer looking for any other suspects.
