Kylar James Wilson, 20, 731 Greene St., Marietta, was charged with a first-degree felony count of attempting to commit a crime with a three-year firearm requirement; third-degree felony count of tampering with evidence; and three counts of second-degree aggravated assault, each with a three-year firearm specification.

The indictment stated that Wilson knowingly physically harmed or attempted to physically harm the victim of an armed attack with a firearm, and that if he had been successful, it would have resulted in the crime of murder by shooting the firearm and hitting the victim’s body. face.

Washington District Attorney Nicole Coil announced that the attempted criminal charge was attempted murder. He said the previous charges in the Oct. 8 indictment against Wilson would be dismissed and that the charges in Wednesday’s indictment would replace the original charges.

Madison Marie Brant, 23, 707 Sixth St., Marietta, was charged along with Wilson with a third-degree felony count of tampering with evidence and a fourth-degree felony count of causing panic with a firearm. year.

The charges against Wilson and Brant were filed around 12:55 a.m. on Sept. 28 at 200 Greene St. It stems from their alleged involvement in a shooting that occurred in the Advance Auto Parts parking lot at Marietta. Police previously told The Times officers responded to a call at Fourth and Putnam streets when shots were heard downtown and found a woman shot in the face but still conscious. Police found 38 shell casings at the scene and determined that four people with four guns were involved in the incident.

Two other suspects involved in the shooting, Ashton J. Dugan, 20, 1046 Laird Ave., Parkersburg, and Brendon M. Pierce, 18, 3109 Elm St., Parkersburg, were indicted Wednesday as one-third co-defendants. tampering with evidence -high-degree felony count; one count of fourth-degree aggravated assault, each with a three-year firearm specification; and one count of obstructing official business, a second-degree misdemeanor.

The indictment states that Dugan and Pierce each had a firearm on them and that they knowingly tried to physically harm Wilson with a firearm.

Wilson has not yet been arraigned on the charges in the new indictment, and Washington County Jail records show he was arrested on the old charges on Oct. 8 and has not been released. A guarantee has not yet been determined for the new expenses.

Brant has not yet been brought to court for the charges in the new indictment and bail has not been set for them. Jail records show he was arrested on old charges on Oct. 17 and released on Oct. 22.

Dugan appeared in court Wednesday and pleaded not guilty. A personal recognizance bond was ordered on all charges; One of the conditions was that no contact would be made with Wilson, Pierce or the victim without an attorney present. Jail records show he was arrested and released Wednesday.

According to court records, Dugan’s hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Feb. 11, with Washington County Common Pleas Judge John Halliday presiding.

Pierce has not yet been arraigned and has not entered a plea to the charge, according to court records.

Pierce was booked into jail on Oct. 11 and released Oct. 11 after bail was set at a total of $30,000 on charges of obstructing official business, tampering with evidence and attempted aggravated assault, according to jail records.

No bond has been set on the charges, some of which are different from those listed at the time of Pierce’s arrest, according to court records.

Bumbalough, 56, of Beverly, was also charged Wednesday with a fifth-degree felony charge of obstructing official business and a first-degree misdemeanor charge of domestic violence.

The charges stem from an Oct. 6 incident at Bumbalough’s home involving a 14-year-old female family member, where the child allegedly got into a verbal argument with a woman at the home and Bumbalough got involved in the argument and tackled her. He crashed into his bed and hit his face, causing his glasses to break and injuring his right eye.

There was also an allegation in Marietta City court documents that the Beverly Police officer responding to the incident at Bumbalough’s home said the officer handled the call differently because it involved Bumbalough and thought the Washington County Sheriff’s Office should have taken the call, but Bumbalough did not tell him to call the Sheriff’s Office.

Bumbalow was booked into the Washington County Jail on the charges on Oct. 8 and was released Oct. 9, jail staff previously told The Times.

There was a hearing in Marietta Municipal Court on October 16 where the felony charge was dismissed and no action was taken on the misdemeanor charges, during which it was stated that the Washington County District Attorney’s Office had requested a special prosecutor from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. .

According to the indictment, Marietta City Law Director Paul Bertram is the special prosecutor in the Bumbalough case. An arraignment or hearing has not yet been scheduled for Bumbalough in Washington state Common Pleas Court.
