Trump and Harris deadlocked in Siena College’s latest national poll – less than two weeks until the election

Siena College’s latest national poll shows former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris in a deadlock with less than two weeks until the election.

The rival presidential candidates are now deadlocked at 48% to 48% in the popular vote, according to a Siena/New York Times poll released Friday.

The results show Harris’ lead over her Republican rival has narrowed in recent weeks after a similar poll by the same outlet in early October showed her leading by 49% to Trump’s 46%.

While 31 percent of respondents to the new poll said they had a “very positive” opinion of Trump, only 29 percent could say the same about Harris.

Only 39 percent said they voted for Trump in the last election, while 45 percent supported President Joe Biden, according to the poll.

When it comes to key election issues, 52 percent of survey respondents said they trust Trump to handle the economy better, compared to 45 percent who support Harris.

Fifty-four percent of voters trust Trump to handle immigration better than Harris (43%), according to the poll.

Harris, meanwhile, continues to lead on abortion, with 55% of those polled favoring her compared to Trump’s 40%.

The survey, conducted Oct. 20-23 among 2,516 registered voters nationwide, has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.2 percentage points.
