A 14-year-old young woman was flown to St. Petersburg for treatment after being injured by a bullet in her leg. He was taken to St. Louis hospital.

Centralia Police Chief Chris Locke said the incident was first reported as a fall injury. Centralia Fire and Emergency Services were called to the 600 block of East Rasback for assistance around 8:15 Saturday morning.

The Police Department was later notified that the alleged victim and a friend were visiting two people in the area. At one point, one of the people they visited displayed a firearm, and the firearm allegedly discharged accidentally, hitting the victim in the leg.

A 15-year-old boy was detained but later released due to lack of space at a state-run juvenile facility. The suspect was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated assault and aggravated use of a weapon.

All those involved were young people.
