Horsemen launch an investigation after 3 people were seriously injured in a crash on Vancouver Island

Mounties are investigating after a crash on Vancouver Island over the weekend that left three people seriously injured, including a driver who was taken to hospital.

RCMP said in a news release Tuesday that officers were called to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of the Trans-Canada Highway and Mays Road near Duncan on Saturday.

Investigators said a white SUV was making a left turn across the highway onto Mays Road when it was struck by a blue SUV traveling southbound on the highway.

While the driver of the blue vehicle was seriously injured and taken to the hospital, the driver and passenger of the white vehicle were also seriously injured and taken to the hospital by land ambulance.

Police said a section of the Trans-Canada Highway was closed for four hours while investigators and the crash re-enacter processed the scene.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522.
