Cheryl makes her first TV appearance since ex Liam Payne’s tragic death – as she joins Girls Aloud to promote charity tribute to the late Sarah Harding in emotional clip

Cheryl made her first TV appearance since her former partner Liam Payne tragically passed away last month, joining Girls Aloud to promote their latest charity single for Sarah Harding.

The 41-year-old singer was captured in a moving clip alongside band members Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh on Friday.

The pre-recorded segment, which shows the pop group giving fans a new trailer, was filmed earlier this year. New release of I’ll Stand By You featuring late member Sarah on lead vocals.

The late singer and beloved friend passed away in September 2021 at the age of 39 after a courageous battle with complications from breast cancer.

The band struggled to hold back their tears in the extremely emotional video, and Cheryl spoke candidly about the meaning of the song.

‘In 2004 we were truly honored to be asked to release the official Children In Need single from our I’ll Stand By You cover album,’ said Nicola.

Nadine followed and added: ‘There was a big campaign where we went around the UK promoting the song and the amazing work that Children In Need do.’

“When we got back together to tour at the beginning of this year, we dedicated the song I’ll Stand By You to Sarah at every show,” chimed in Nicola.

‘We went through the Girls Aloud vault and put together a version featuring Sarah’s incredible voice, so we could duet with her.’

Nadine and Cheryl called on their fans to help promote the single raising money for charity.

Money raised from each sale will go to BBC Children In Need to help provide care for more children and families across the UK.

The clip marked Cheryl’s first appearance on TV since her former partner and father of her 7-year-old son Bear tragically passed away at the age of 31 after falling from the balcony of his hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The beloved One Direction star allegedly fell into the courtyard of the Casa Sur Hotel, much to the chagrin of distraught fans around the world.

Just days after the Strip That Down hitmaker passed away, Cheryl broke her silence with a heartbreaking tribute post on her Instagram page.

Sharing a black and white photo of 1D favorite and little Bear, the former X-Factor judge wrote in a statement: ‘As I try to navigate this world-shattering event and overcome my own pain at this indescribably painful time.

‘I would like to remind everyone that we lost a person.

‘Liam wasn’t just a pop star and celebrity; He was the son, brother, uncle, close friend and father of our seven-year-old son.

‘A son who now has to face the fact that he will never see his father again.’

Meanwhile, 20 years after Girls Aloud released I’ll Stand By You, the iconic group has released a brand new version of the track; dear Sarah is seen only taking lead vocals in the entire song.

‘I didn’t expect to cry this morning; This is great news. What a lovely way to honor Sarah, thank you for giving us this version’.

‘9:15 and I’ll be there crying Sarah’s version is so so beautiful I’m glad it’s the official children’s song in need’.

Sarah’s vocals were discovered in the Girls Aloud vault while the band was putting together archival material for their sold-out The Girls Aloud Show arena tour earlier this year.
