Taylen Green strips a Mississippi State defender of his cleats for the highlight goal

It took less than 2 minutes for Taylen Green to show fans in Starkville that he wasn’t messing around.

Arkansas’ quarterback helped the Razorbacks seize Mississippi State’s first possession in Saturday afternoon’s SEC matchup. And no, the Boise State transfer didn’t throw touchdown passes to wide receivers or take a few shots on goal to put Arkansas in scoring position.

Instead, Green famously did the damage with his legs. He hit poor Bulldogs safety Hunter Washington about 10 times (or so it seemed), made a great block to the outside, and darted toward the right sideline for an 8-yard touchdown run, giving the Razorbacks a 7-0 lead with just 1:54 remaining. He gave a score of . gone in the game.

Officially the TD run was only 8 yards, but it was probably twice that if you include all those concussions. While his touchdown run was dazzling, Green’s ability to wreak havoc on defenses with his legs was still less than dazzling. The junior came into Saturday rushing for 316 yards and four touchdowns, so he’s tormented other defenses this season as well.

Green threw a touchdown pass near the end of the 1st quarter, hitting Luke Hasz on a 14-yard TD strike with 2:09 left to give Arkansas a 17-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. Green already has 73 yards passing and 40 yards rushing after just 15 minutes in Starkville.
