PortSt. Woman Lucie searches for stolen truck

LIMAN ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Port St. for the last two weeks. St. Lucie police say neighbors in the Southbend area are being targeted by thieves who are still at large. Police are still looking for a stolen car, stolen guns and stolen credit cards.

On the morning of November 2, Valerie Rhodes quickly realized that she and her son were not going anywhere.

“He went outside and stepped on the grass and was confused because my windows were broken and my truck was gone,” Rhodes said.

Rhodes hurriedly left the keys to her husband’s truck in her car. This moment of forgetfulness eventually cost him his family.

“My next door neighbor came over and said we had all this,” Rhodes said.

Ring’s footage shows how quickly thieves were able to get away with his car and belongings at night.

“They unlocked my truck, got in, and then attacked several houses,” Rhodes said.

PortSt. According to St. Lucie police, there have been nine vehicle burglaries in the southeast Southbend neighborhood. Police said the thieves stole two guns, a wallet and a credit card. Rhodes said a detective dubbed the series of burglaries “Jingle Fingers,” meaning people desperately stealing ahead of the holidays.

Rhodes hopes to get back what’s inside rather than the car itself.

“My husband’s grandmother, who passed away a few years ago,” Rhodes said, “all her stuff; her rose, her letters, her pictures, everything, because she had just been driving with her angel.”

Meanwhile, Rhodes shares the truck across multiple platforms in hopes of getting something back.

“We feel mentally disturbed that they did this to us,” Rhodes said.

PortSt. St. Lucie police said no arrests have been made, but they are actively investigating and following solid leads.
