A body has been found during the search for a missing man who was last seen on CCTV a month ago.

Michael Johnston disappeared in Staffordshire shortly after 9am on Thursday, October 17, prompting an urgent search.

The 32-year-old man was last seen on CCTV near the River Aire and Aire & Calder Navigation on Thwaite Lane in Stourton.

He was wearing a black Leeds United jacket and black shorts.

West Yorkshire Police have confirmed that a body was tragically found at around 2.50pm on Sunday, November 10.

The discovery was made in woodland off a path next to the River Aire.

Official identification has not yet occurred, but Michael’s family has been notified.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Officers searching for missing Leeds man Michael Johnston have found a body believed to be his.

“At around 2.50pm yesterday afternoon, officers involved in the ongoing search for Mr Johnston discovered a woodland path next to the River Aire, near Skelton Grange Road in Stourton.

“Although official identification has not yet been established, it is believed that the man who went missing on October 17 is Mr. Johnston, 32. His family has been notified.”
