California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) faced angry backlash for saying the president-elect wanted: “Trump proof”The situation before Trump’s re-ascension to the presidency.

Without giving many details this week, Newsom called on lawmakers to call a special session of the California Legislature to strengthen the state’s legal defenses.

Trump said in a post on the Truth Social platform on Friday. in question Newsom “TRYING TO KILL OUR COUNTRY’S BEAUTIFUL California”.

“He uses the term ‘Trump-Proof’ as a way to stop all the GREAT things that could be done to ‘Make California Great Again,'” Trump said.

Trump also appears to suggest that he will try to change how elections are administered in California, even though the U.S. Constitution gives that authority to the states.

He wrote: “As a ‘REPRESENTATIVE’ of the United States of America on Voting and Elections, I WILL DEMAND THAT VOTER ID AND PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP BE A REQUIRED PART AND COMPONENT OF THE VOTING PROCESS!”
