Pay It 4ward: Woman thanks people for helping her with music

Tonight’s Pay It 4ward follows a woman who helps people overcome bad moods through the power of music.

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – If you’re having a bad day and one of your favorite songs comes on, do you feel like that bad mood just melts away?

Tonight’s Pay It 4ward follows a woman who helps people overcome bad moods through the power of music.

From Christmas classics to straight classics, the Healing Harmonies choir covers it all, and the group is led by Nicole Gallegos.

“Nicole is so funny and uplifting. He spreads so much joy,” said John Kwait.

John Kwait is a special member of the choir.

“I used to be in other choirs, but I find so much joy and fulfillment in this choir,” Kwait said.

This is especially for singers who are experiencing some type of brain change due to a stroke, dementia, or another neurological disorder.

“I have Parkinson’s disease, and there are a lot of studies that show that music can really help brain function and brain stability,” Kwait said.

He says they only meet twice a month, but they’ve become his two favorite times of the month.

“I’ve always been kind of a singer and that’s really helped my singing ability and just helped me learn new songs, learn new skills. This gives me great satisfaction,” said Kwait.

So it was time to Pay 4ward.
