HAYWOOD COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA — A driver died after crashing about 100 feet off Interstate 40 in North Carolina’s Haywood County, according to the Junaluska Fire Department.

The accident occurred around 20:00 on Saturday. “911 communications received a report of a Traffic Accident involving a vehicle that went off the roadway and down an embankment near Milemarker 3.5 on Interstate 40 Eastbound,” the Junaluska Fire Department said.

WCCB Charlotte reached out to the Junaluska Fire Department to confirm the driver died Sunday morning.
