LOCKLAND, OHIO – Residents of this tiny village of just 3,400 have seen their lives disrupted by an influx of thousands of illegal immigrants, putting pressure on services and suffering a significant decline in their quality of life, residents say.

“Our fire and sanitation services have been put under pressure. Since moving into these apartment complexes, many of the long-time residents have left due to multiple fires. Neighborhood residents also expressed these concerns. A woman named Kelly, who lives on the top floor of one of the apartment buildings, says she is one of the few Americans left in the building, while the rest are illegal immigrants.

He says the block is now known as the “African village” because of the influx, where about 85% are now illegal immigrants.

“While the fugitives were wandering around the apartment, at first they were hanging out in the parking lots 50 times a day. They don’t get out of your way when you drive. They don’t seem to care.” ” he said.

“Ongoing fires, you know, fire departments here, if not every day. Every other day. And I think there’s been at least four to five fires in the last less than six months. And the smoke alarms are going off. They don’t know how to use electric stoves, and they’re in the hallways with all the oil they use.” “There is always a smell of food,” he said.

“Fires scare me. I live on the third floor and almost alone. And I’m afraid I’ll get burned in a fire one night because everyone living below me is a leak. The two next to me also have leaks and the smoke alarms are going off in there.”

“Americans, we all want to get out of here,” he said.

Aaron, another resident, pointed out the occupancy of the apartments and said that the biggest problem the village faces is immigration.

“As far as the community center here, they’re overwhelmed with it. And the churches are overwhelmed, resources are limited.”

Navigation was also an issue raised by some citizens.

Dave, who lives on the east side of town, told Fox: “There are so many people hanging out on the streets and sidewalks. I’d be afraid to walk like that, and I’ve been here 37 years.” “I wish something could be done to keep them off the sidewalks.”

Other residents pointed out other problems the village faces, such as crime and drugs, although they are not linked to immigration. Marilyn Bartko, who lives near Lockland, did not mention immigration as one of the top issues.

“I think there is a need for industry in Lockland, for people to have better housing, for better education, and for forces working to make sure there is less crime,” he said. “Because I think these types of areas are often left alone. People forget and say ‘Lockland is very dangerous’, but people don’t try to change things here,” he said.

Village Administrator Doug Wehmeyer He recently told Fox News Digital that this resulted in a loss of about $150,000 to the village as illegal immigrants failed to pay taxes and displaced local residents who moved out of those apartments.

“I don’t know how they found our little village. We like it. We think it’s a great place to live, but the quality of life here is definitely affected by this problem,” he said.

Lockland’s situation is reminiscent of towns and cities such as Springfield, Ohio, which have seen an increase in Haitian immigration in recent years and Charleroi, Pennsylvania, Haitian immigration is also overwhelmed.
