Texas mother forgets to give birth to triplets after being declared ‘clinically dead’ at birth

TOMBALL, Texas (KABC) — It’s safe to say that life for Marisa and Dylan Christie, who have four children under the age of five, is an organized chaos.

It’s Marisa’s favorite spot, holed up in her home just northwest of Houston with her husband and children.

“In those difficult moments, I try to remind myself, ‘I missed almost all of it,’ which kind of puts it into perspective,” he said.

After giving birth to the couple’s triplet daughters in late August, Marisa plateaued at multiple points over a 45-minute period.

“Going from the most beautiful experience of seeing our daughters for the first time to, ‘Oh my God, my wife… they’re giving her CPR’ was the hardest moment of my life,” Dylan said.

Marisa’s maternal-fetal medicine doctor, Dr. According to Amber Samuel, the mother survived an extremely rare postpartum complication called amniotic fluid embolism. This occurs when amniotic fluid enters the mother’s bloodstream during labor or birth and can cause a serious allergic reaction.

In Marisa’s case, this led to her husband calling for her to have a life-saving hysterectomy.

When she woke up, she had no knowledge of birth.

“While I was in the hospital, my family took a lot of photos and videos of me, which helped a lot to kind of bring out the reality,” Marisa said.

The mother had to relearn how to walk. Soon she was wandering the halls with her daughters, celebrating their release from the NICU.

He is full of praise for the doctors and staff for never leaving his side.

“I don’t think I would be alive if I wasn’t in that hospital,” Marisa said.
