Disgraced NYC urologist Darius Paduch sentenced to life in prison for ‘deviant and pervasive’ sexual abuse of male patients, including minors

Serial sexual abuser and disgraced urologist Darius Paduch was sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday. sexually assaulting male patients, six of whom were underage — at some of the city’s most prestigious hospitals for more than a decade.

Paduch, 57Sentenced on May 8 Six counts of soliciting a person to travel to engage in illegal sexual activity and five counts of soliciting a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity during the years of abuse.

Judge Ronnie Abrams sentenced him to life in prison on Wednesday, according to the Manhattan U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Paduch was convicted May 8 of six counts of soliciting a person to travel to engage in illegal sexual activity and five counts of soliciting a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity during the years of abuse.

Paduch was convicted May 8 of six counts of soliciting a person to travel to engage in illegal sexual activity and five counts of soliciting a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity during the years of abuse.

“Darius Paduch was a sexual predator who preyed on patients seeking treatment for sensitive medical issues,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said in a statement.

“He used his position as a prominent urologist at prestigious hospitals to sexually assault defenseless patients, including children, to satisfy his own sexual desires.”

The creep doctor abused dozens of patients under the guise of medical treatments backed by the prestige of his employers (including Weill Cornell Medical Center, New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University and Northwell Health Systems) to make his victims suspicious of the abuse, and often returned to his office for more, prosecutors said .

According to Anthony DiPietro, an attorney for some of the plaintiffs, a total of 310 victims filed claims and lawsuits against Paduch, breaking the grim record for the most male victims abused by a single predator.

The urologist’s abuse dates back to 2007 and continued at several different hospitals until at least 2019, according to evidence presented at a two-week grand jury hearing.

Some of the victims were abused for several years during medical appointments by the doctor who specialized in infertility and male reproductive health.

Prosecutors said Paduch masturbated his patients, ordered them to masturbate while he watched, digitally penetrated patients without gloves and pressed his own erect penis into their bodies during medical appointments.

The feds said he also used sex toys on his victims.

Paduch, who has been behind bars since his arrest in April 2023, claimed to his victims that the abuse was part of medically necessary examinations.

“Paduch’s abuse was perverse and pervasive, spanning more than a decade and victimizing patients both inside and outside hospital rooms. “He repeatedly violated his oath of ‘Do No Harm’,” Williams said.

“Today’s sentencing demonstrates that healthcare providers who exploit their positions of trust to commit sexual misconduct will be held accountable for their actions.”

The disgraced doctor is also facing multiple civil lawsuits filed by a total of 310 former patients and victims.

The lawsuits detail even more disturbing patterns of alleged abuse, including inflicting pain on patients by skipping anesthesia during unnecessary procedures and disfiguring penis enlargements.

Lawyers representing the victims applauded the sentence handed down Wednesday.

“Today’s life sentence against Darius Paduch marks a momentous victory for justice and accountability,” DiPietro said. “As a physician, Darius Paduch abused his position of trust to prey on vulnerable individuals and will now face the consequences of his horrific actions.”

“While no sentence can ever undo the pain and suffering endured by each of the survivors of abuse at the hands of Dr. Darius Paduch, the sentence closes an important chapter for these survivors,” said Mallory Allen, who represents 140 former patients.

“For nearly 20 years, the so-called prestigious medical institutions we work for continued to turn a blind eye, while patients who relied on him for their medical care and treatments were instead brutalized by his degrading, sexually violating, and medically unfounded behavior.

“The strength of the survivors, especially those brave enough to testify at the criminal trial, was incredible and Dr. He made sure Paduch was held accountable. “Today’s sentencing reaffirms that heinous sexual abuse will not be ignored.”

Both attorneys said they plan to take down institutions that allowed Paduch’s abuse to go unchecked in civil court.

“But this is just the beginning. Our focus now is to hold institutions accountable for covering up and enabling Paduch’s exploitation of patients under the guise of medical care,” DiPietro added.

“Every patient exposed to this known predator deserves justice, and we will fight until justice is served.”
